Patrick Reed celebrates his hole-in-one with a little exercise.
Patrick Reed, as one of the top American players in the world and one of the game's top young stars, will be a trendy pick next week at the Masters. Reed had an impressive first quarter of the season, picking up his fourth career Tour win and nearly taking two other tournaments. But his best shot so far came at the Shell Houston Open on Saturday, when he hit a perfect 5-iron into the 178-yard par-3 16th hole (it was playing longer than that).
There was some major concern on Friday when Reed was noticeably limping around with just a few days to go until the Masters. Apparently, he tweaked a knee but there was no real sign of that on Saturday. The well-padded 24-year-old, who doesn't exactly employ Rory McIlroy's strict workout routine, went for a little sprint across the bridge with his caddie to retrieve his ball.
