Philipp Lahm playing another new position for Bayern Munich against FC Porto

What weird and wonderful formation is Pep Guardiola playing in this match?

The teams are out for today's Champions League quarterfinal first leg between Porto and Bayern Munich. There are no real surprises for the hosts, who welcome Jackson Martínez back into attack after an injury layoff. Pacey attacker Ricardo Quaresma is given the nod on the right wing, with Cristian Tello having missed out altogether.

Bayern coach Pep Guardiola has sprung a slight surprise with the inclusion of Philipp Lahm in an advanced midfield role alongside Thiago Alcântara. His compatriot Xabi Alonso is given the nod at the base of the Bavarians' midfield trio. Mario Götze and Thomas Müller flank center-forward Robert Lewandowski in attack.

FC Porto starting lineup (4-3-3): Fabiano; Alex Sandro, Bruno Martins Indi, Maicon, Danilo; Óliver Torres, Casemiro, Héctor Herrera; Yacine Brahimi, Jackson Martínez, Ricardo Quaresma.

Bayern Munich starting lineup (4-3-3): Manuel Neuer; Juan Bernat, Dante Bonfim, Jerome Boateng, Rafinha; Thiago Alcântara, Xabi Alonso, Philipp Lahm; Mario Götze, Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Müller.
